Mobile App Push Notifications Alerts for iDVR-PRO CCTV DVRs
iDVR-PRO CCTV DVRs allow users to setup push notifications to iOS and Android mobile apps when certain events occur such as alarms and motion detection. Although iDVR-PRO surveillance DVRs do not yet directly support push notifications, they can be configured to send email alerts. By using a mobile push message service, like Pushover which includes an email address that triggers a push notification, users can effectively have their iDVR-PRO send a push when any of the alarm events supported by the DVR are triggered.
All iDVR-PRO recorders support the following types of alarms, which can be used to send an email alert.
External Alarm triggered (such as motions sensor, door sensor, infrared trip wire)
Video Motion detected by camera
Camera video loss
Camera tamper detected
Disk drive overwrite started
Disk drive full
No disk drive installed
Panic recording started
System bootup
Remote login failed
Internal fan failure
Internet connection trouble
Failed DDNS update
Setup Instructions
Follow these instructions top setup push notification alerts.
Push Service and Mobile App Setup
Start by signing up for a free Pushover account. The Pushover service is free for 7 days, then costs just $3.99 for a lifetime subscription for each platform you want to use. For example, if you use both iOS and Android mobile devices, and you want to get push messages on both platforms, it will cost $3.99 x 2 for a lifetime subscription. The mobile apps for iOS and Android are free to download from the Google Play and Apple app stores.
As mentioned, the way you can send push messages is through the iDVR-PRO's email alert functionality. Now that your push account is setup and should know the email address that Pushover has assigned to you. Follow the iDVR-PRO email alert setup instructions here and use your Pushover email address as the email address to send alerts to.
The below images show a push notification being received on iPhone. The picture on the left shows the message as it appears on the top message status bar in iOS. Users can tap on the message to see the full view of the message in the Pushover app (picture on the right). The details show the type of alert that triggered the message on the DVR.
iPhone Push Notification Video Demo
Watch this video to see a demo of the iDVR-PRO triggering an alert to the app. The app user then uses the timestamp of the alert to playback that segment of video on the iDVR-PRO app for iPhone. This same thing can be done also on Android.
Android Mobile Push Notification
The below image shows a push notification being received on an Android mobile phone.
Just like the iOS app, the Android app supports live viewing and recorded video playback from remotely over the Internet. After a user receives an alert, they can simply login to their DVR using the iDVR-PRO app for Android and see their cameras live or playback the recorded video that occurred at the time of the alarm notification. The below screenshot shows the 4 camera live view on a Samsung Galaxy Android device.
Hybrid iDVR-PROs work with the following security camera types and resolutions.
AHD Cameras (720p and 1080p resolution models supported)
TVI Cameras (720p and 1080p resolution models supported)
Analog CCTV Cameras (all analog resolution supported including CIF, D1, 960H)
