iDVR CCTV DVR Continuous Video Surveillance Recording Setup
iDVR CCTV DVRs can be setup to continuous video surveillance recording, also known as around the clock or 24/7 recording. By default, the DVR will automatically overwrite the oldest video when the disk drive is full.
Video Playback Instructions
For the best viewing experience, start playing the video, then select the highest video quality setting by clicking on the video settings button on the bottom of the video player.
Watch this video to learn how to set up video surveillance on iDVR-E CCTV DVRs. These setup instructions are applicable to the original iDVR-E analog CCTV DVRs and the new hybrid HD CCTV DVR models.
To start, the first thing we need to do is stop the DVR from recording. You can do that by clicking on this red icon in the lower left hand corner of the screen. Enter in the default administrator password, which is six zeros. Once the recording is stopped, that light will go off and you can bring up the setup menu and then select record. Notice that the DVR is set to begin recording when it boots up, so if you ever restart it will automatically begin recording again.
Select mode. Typically you'll want to max out the frame rate of the DVR unless you're looking to conserve disk space. I'm going to max this one out and bump up the frame rate on the 960H cameras to 30. The 720P cameras have to stay at 15. Click on the day icon and then turn off all the frame rates for event. We're just going to do continuous recording in this example, so I'm going to set the frames per second to 15 each for the 720P cameras, and the 960H cameras at 30. Then for all the event frame rates, just turn those all off. We'll leave the quality at super for continuous recording. That's the best quality you can record at.
When you're done, click save. Then close this menu by clicking on the x in the upper right. Then you can double click on that status icon at the lower left to start the recording up again. Again, if you were to reboot this DVR it would automatically begin recording also.
