Do you need a custom security camera system? CCTV Camera Pros can provide a custom video surveillance system quote that includes a mix of various camera styles, cables, connectors, power supplies, and monitors. We can include a 4 channel, 8 channel, 16 channel DVR, or 32 channel DVR. As you have probably already seen on our website, we have 2, 4, 8, and 16 camera surveillance systems in pre-made packages. However, it is not possible for us to package up every combination and quantity of all the different camera models that we carry. Use this form to request a quote.

What type of security cameras are compatible with Viewtron DVRs?
Viewtron DVRs are compatible with analog CCTV (CVBS), AHD (analog high definition), HD-TVI, HD-CVI, and network IP cameras up to 4K resolution. This type of DVR is referred to as a hybrid DVR or XVR.
I want to use a Viewtron DVR as a replacement for my existing home security camera system. Can I use my existing cameras?
Most likely yes. If your existing DVR and cameras use BNC connectors and coax cable, our Viewtron DVRs will work 99% of the time because Viewtron DVRs are
compatible with almost all BNC security camera video types. The only type of BNC camera that will NOT work with Viewtron DVRs are SDI / HD-SDI cameras. SDI cameras were used for a short period of time by some manufacturers before the advent of AHD, HD-TVI, and HD-CVI for HD video over coax. There are not many SDI DVRs and cameras out there. If you need help researching if our Viewtron DVR will work with your existing security cameras, please email us the make and model and we will help. We have helped customers replace the following types of DVRs with Viewtron DVRs: QSEE, Night Owl, Samsung, Lorex, HikVision, Dahua, and many more.
Can I use my existing cable if I upgrade some of my cameras?
Most likely yes. It depends on the quality of your existing cable and how long the cable is.
4K BNC security cameras require a higher quality cable than 720p and 1080p cameras do. Some manufacturers supply good cable with their systems and some do not. Unfortunately, there is no way to know for sure except to test. When you are ready, you can order one camera from us and test it out with your existing cable to be sure. If it does not work, you can return it for a refund or we can supply better security camera cables at that time.
How can I connect IP cameras to Viewtron DVRs?

Do they have PoE ports?
No. In order to connect an IP camera to a Viewtron DVR, you must use an external
PoE switch or PoE injector and connect the IP camera to the same network that the DVR is on. On Viewtron IP camera NVRs have built-in PoE ports. The NVRs ONLY work with IP cameras (no support for BNC).
What brand of IP cameras are compatible?
As long as your IP camera is ONVIF compliant, it will work with Viewtron DVRs. CCTV Camera Pros highly recommends
Viewtron IP cameras.

Can I view my security cameras live from a web browser?
Yes. Viewtron DVRs and NVRs can be remotely monitored and managed from all major web browsers. Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge, and Internet Explorer is supported.

Can I record on motion detection only on certain channels?
Yes. Each camera can be setup on its own recording type and schedule. For example. Channel 1 record on motion only from 8am to 9pm. Channel 2 continuous recording 24 / 7. Channel 3 motion + continuous - this way it is always recording but motion events are bookmarked.
How can I reduce false alarms from security camera motion detection?
Viewtron DVRs have a feature called smart motion detection. It uses AI software to identify people and cars when your motion is detected. This can greatly reduce and even eliminate false alarms from motion triggered from shadows, trees blowing in the wind, video noise from IR night vision, and all of the other common causes of motion detection false positives. What video recording frame rates are supported?
The following frame rates are supported: 30fps@1080p, 15fps@4mp, 12fps@5mp, 8fps@4K. fps = Frames Per Second.

Can video be automatically uploaded to the cloud?
No. Viewtron recorders are 100% on premise solutions. All recording and functionality is done locally on your recorder which you own 100%. There are never any monthly fees.
Is there an easy way to do a video export / backup video for a specific time period to playback on a computer?

What if I need to monitor more than one location?

How much hard drive space do I need?
You can use our online

Can these DVRs integrate with point of sale systems?
Yes. These CCTV DVRs can be
integrated with cash registers / POS systems for retail stores.
What is the difference between dual stream and main stream (only) recording?
If you record using the main stream option, you can only view up to 4 cameras at a time when playing back recorded video surveillance footage. When dual stream recording is used, the DVR can playback 16 cameras on one screen.

Does the Viewtron hybrid DVR software support multiple user logins with different permissions?
Yes, you may create multiple user logins and manage their permissions on the DVR.
How many users can log in remotely at the same time to view security cameras?
It depends on the DVR model:
The 4ch VT-DVR-4 supports 10 clients online. 10 main-stream channels and 24 sub-stream channels, 34 channels for all clients in total.
The 8ch VT-DVR-8 supports 10 clients online. 36 main-stream channels and 64 sub-stream channels, 100 channels for all clients in total.
The 16ch VT-DVR-16 supports 10 clients online. 28 main-stream channels and 96 sub-stream channels, 124 channels for all clients in total.
The 32ch VT-DVR-32 supports 15 clients online. 44 main-stream channels and 160 sub-stream channels, 204 channels for all clients in total.
How long do Viewtron DVRs take to ship?
Order is received by 1:00 EST on business days normally ship on the same day. Orders received after ship on the following business days. CCTV Camera Pros business days are Monday through Friday.

The above diagram shows how a POS system /cash register can be installed with a Viewtron DVR. This allows point of sale text overlay over one or more security cameras on your system. The point of sale / cash register is connected to the same network as the network video recorder. This is done by connecting both devices to the same network switch or router using CAT5 or CAT6 network cable. The security camera is hard wired to the DVR using coax cable. The camera can be an analog CCTV camera or an HD-over-Coax camera.
