Does CCTV Camera Pros supply complete NVR systems?
Yes. You can find some of our
NVR systems that include IP cameras here. However, many customers like to mix and match different cameras, so many times we provide a custom quote. You can request a phone consultation and / or free quote here.
How is a network video recorder (NVR) different from a digital video recorder (DVR)?
Generally an NVR refers to a recorder for network IP cameras and a DVR refers to CCTV or HD BNC security cameras. However, sometimes the term DVR is also used to when referring to recorders for IP cameras.
Can I view my security cameras live from a web browser?
Yes. Viewtron DVRs and NVRs can be remotely monitored and managed from all major web browsers. Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge, and Internet Explorer is supported.

Can a Viewtron network video recorder also work with analog cameras?
No. Viewtron NVRs only work with network IP cameras. You can find a Viewtron hybrid BNC security DVR on this page that works with analog cameras. By the way, you may have noticed that our Viewtron BNC DVRs do work with IP cameras. However, they are not the best choice if your system will be mostly made up of IP cameras. BNC DVRs do not have PoE ports and they do not support the AI software functions of
Viewtron AI cameras (which are IP based).
Can the PoE ports on the NVR be used for wireless antennas and provide a DHCP server?
The NVR can only act as a DHCP server for IP cameras directly connected to the POE ports on the back. If you are using wireless antennas, you would need to connect the NVR to your router (via the lan connection, not the poe ports) and connect the injector from the receiving antenna into the router as well.
What if I have QSEE BNC security cameras?
For QSEE CCTV cameras, CCTV Camera Pros has these QSEE replacement DVRs available.
Does the Viewtron NVR software support multiple user logins with different permissions?
Yes, you may create multiple user logins and manage their permissions on the NVR. Please watch this
video to learn how-to create users and manage permissions.
How do I replace my Q-See camera system
In most cases, you can use your existing cable and just replace your NVR with one of the NVRs on this page. If your QSEE IP cameras are ONVIF compatible, you can use them with the Viewtron NVR. Please contact us if you need help determining if your QSEE cameras are ONVIF compliant. Please include the model numbers of your cameras.

Can I buy a replacement Q-SEE IP camera for my Q-SEE camera system?
Yes. We highly recommend our Viewtron IP cameras if you need a replacement Q-SEE IP camera.
How much hard drive space do I need?
You can use our online
video storage calculator / hard drive calculator to estimate if the standard hard drive will be large enough or if you should add more storage space to your NVR. Please keep in mind that the video codec / compression that your IP camera uses is a big factor in how much hard drive space you need. Viewtron IP cameras support H.265, H.265+, and H.265s video codecs. These provide much greater video compression over H.264. If you are using Viewtron IP cameras, CCTV Camera Pros currently recommends using the H.265+ setting. In our testing, H.265+ provides maximum video compression without video quality loss.
Here is a picture of the back of an 8ch NVR to show where the PoE ports are located. The built-in PoE ports of Viewtron NVRs allows you to hard wire your IP cameras directly to the NVR using network cable (CAT5 / CAT6). Power over Ethernet is so convenient because it supplies power to your cameras. The 8ch NVR has 8 PoE ports. The 16ch NVR has 16 PoE ports. The 32ch NVR has 16 PoE ports, so an additional PoE switch or injectors is needed for the 32ch model.
Viewtron NVRs can be used with
Viewtron AI security cameras. When you connect a Viewtron AI camera to a Viewtron NVR, you have access to advanced analytical functions such as vehicle detection, person detection, face detection, and license plate recognition (LPR). These artificial intelligence functions are achieved using highly advanced video analytics software that is built-in to the camera and NVR.
The Viewtron network video recorders have built-in LPR / ANPR software. This software is included. There are NO additional license fees! This LPR software works in conjunction with this
Viewtron LPR camera to recognize license plates (LPR) and automatically detect the numbers and letters on the plates (ANPR). CCTV Camera Pros sells pre-configured license plate recognition systems. We can also provide you with a custom design and quote based on your specific requirements.
Important Note: License plate recognition software functions ONLY work with this Viewtron LPR camera.

The above diagram shows how a POS system /cash register can be installed with a Viewtron NVR and IP camera. This allows point of sale text overlay over one or more security cameras on your system. The point of sale / cash register is connected to the same network as the network video recorder. This is done by connecting both devices to the same network switch or router using CAT5 or CAT6 network cable. The IP camera can also be connected to the switch or it can be connected directly to the Viewtron NVR (because the NVR has built-in PoE ports). You can learn more about
