IP Rating Explained

The IP stands for "Ingress Protection". The IP rating system indicates how well a security camera is protected from dust and water. The first digit of the IP ratings can range from 0 to 6 and notates the protection from dust intrusion. The higher the number, the greater the protection. The second digit can range from 0 to 9 and notates the water ingress protection (water intrusion protection).

IP67 security cameras are completely protected from dust intrusion. This is designated by the number 6. IP67 security cameras are completely protected against water intrusion even if fully submerged under water up to 1 meter / 3 feet for up to 30 minutes. An IP67 camera is much more weatherproof than cameras with IP65 or IP66 ratings. These security cameras can be installed in very harsh environments.
