Most of the cameras on this page are BNC hybrid cameras that work in 4 different video modes: analog (CVBS), AHD, HD-TVI, and HD-CVI. - How is video surveillance footage recorded from these hidden CCTV cameras?
All of the hidden cameras on this page are BNC type security cameras that are hard wired to digital video recorder (DVR).
- Do hidden cameras have IR night vision?
Only certain models have IR night vision. Because these cameras are designed to be concealed or "hidden", that does make infrared implementation a challenge because traditional IR LEDs emit a red glow. This would naturally make them no longer hidden. However, CCTV Camera Pros has specialized invisible IR cameras that use 940nm IR LEDs. 940nm LEDs do not emit a red glow. When they are concealed behind a PIR sensor window, it is possible to have an IR night vision camera that is still hidden / covert.
- What type of cable is used to wire these cameras to a DVR?
RG59 Siamese coax cable spools or these pre-made BNC security camera cables can be used to wire these cameras to a DVR. Siamese type cable runs both video and power for BNC cameras.
- Can I view hidden security cameras remotely?
Yes. When connected to a remotely accessible DVR, these hidden cameras can be viewed from iPhone and Android mobile apps. Windows and Mac software can also be used for remote camera viewing. You can learn about remote security camera viewing apps and software here.
- Can these cameras sense motion detection?
Yes. When connected to a surveillance DVR that supports motion detection, these spy surveillance cameras can be configured to detect motion in order to start video recording and trigger alarm functions. In addition to video motion detection, the covert spy cameras on this page can also be used in conjunction with external PIR motion detectors to trigger video recording.
- Do they have built-in SD cards?
No. All of the cameras on this page are designed to be used with a professional surveillance DVR. We do have some IP cameras available that support local SD care recording though.

Motion Detector Camera
This video was recording with a
AHD-PIR18 motion detector camera connected to an iDVR-PRO surveillance DVR. Please note that video was made when the AHD-PIR18 was a pure AHD format camera. The latest model supports 4 video formats: AHD, HD-TVI, HD-CVI, and analog CCTV (CVBS). The video modes are easily selected using the small joystick that is attached to the camera's video cable.
The AHD-PIR18 is hidden inside of a motion detector housing and the IR LEDs are concealed behind the PIR sensor window. This is one of the only hidden spy cameras available that has invisible infrared. This is possible because the IR LEDs use 940nm frequency which does not emit a red glow (like traditional infrared security cameras do). This camera is used by many of our customers to covertly record video of employees, nannies, and baby sitters.
Pinhole Security Camera

Smoke Detector Camera
This video was recording with an
HCPRO-SD380 smoke detector camera connected to an iDVR-PRO surveillance DVR. The HCPRO-SD380 is also a hybrid BNC type security camera that supports these 4 video formats: AHD, HD-TVI, HD-CVI, and analog CCTV (CVBS). The video modes are easily selected using the small joystick that is attached to the camera's video cable. 1080p / 2 megapixel resolution is supported in AHD, HD-TVI, and HD-CVI modes. 960H / 1000TVL resolution is supported in analog CCTV mode.
These hybrid cameras are a great solution for customers that have an existing D1 or 960H DVR because they are compatible with their existing DVR. When they later want to upgrade to an HD surveillance DVR, they can easily switch the camera to one of the HD video modes.

The HCPRO-420SC is also a hybrid BNC type security camera that supports these 4 video formats: AHD, HD-TVI, HD-CVI, and analog CCTV (CVBS).
