The Geovision GV-VD8700 is a vandal proof network dome camera featuring 8-megapixel resolution (3840 x 2160) at up to 30 frames per second. The Geovision GV-VD8700 includes a varifocal 3.3~12mm varifocal lens (42°~106° horizontal angle of view) and 1/2.5" progressive scan CMOS image sensor for superior image quality.
One of the main features of this camera is its ability to recognize faces that have been loaded into the camera's database (up to 10,000 faces). This is best used in stores and businesses to recognize important customers or potential crimes. For instance, a business may store a customer's face when they make an initial purchase or sign up for an account. Once the image is in the camera's database, the camera will recognize the person's face, locate the account, and trigger an event set for that particular user, such as alerting salesmen of a high spender based on previous transactions.
The IK10 / IP66 rated housing protects the vital components of the camera from acts of vandalism, direct impact, harsh weather, dust, and humidity. A tri-axis mount allows the user to manually pan, tilt and roll the camera to get the perfect viewing angle.
This camera prospers in low light environments with a lux rating of 0.05 in Color mode and 0.04 lux in Black & White mode. For ultra dark or no light environments that go below the 0.04 lux rating, the Infrared LEDs will activate and provide an effective range of 40 meters / 131 feet. The Smart IR Technology used by the VD8700 allows the Infrared LEDs to dim and brighten as people and objects move within the camera's focal range to prevent image whiteout.
The WDR Enhancement feature helps to provide high image clarity in environments with challenging lighting conditions, such as bright background lighting. It works by combining the darkest part of the image with the brightest part to create one highly detailed image close to that of the human eye.
To further enhance the low light capabilities, the GV-VD8700 features a Removable IR Cut Filter, which blocks any unusable lighting and only allows the visible light to pass through.
The GV-VD8700 can be powered by either 12V-DC or POE 802.3AF (Power over Ethernet) and includes a Micro SD/SDHC/SDXC Card Slot (Class 10 Card Required) for local storage recording. Like all Geovision cameras, the GV-VD8700 includes a 32 channel NVR software license for management, recording, and playback.
