Description

CCTV Camera Pros builds custom automatic license plate reader NVRs using GeoVision ALPR / ANPR / license plate recognition software. These PC based GeoVision NVRs (network video recorders) come with GV-NVR IP camera software and GV-ASManager software pre-installed.

Best ANPR Camera System

ANPR Camera

CCTV Camera Pros highly recommends this Viewtron ANPR camera system. Our Viewtron ANPR / LPR camera is our best selling license plate reader solution by far. If you do not require a GeoVision solution, please check out those pages before deciding on your purchase.

As for the GeoVision LPR system on this page, customers have their choice to use any compatible GeoVision LPR cameras with these systems. Customers can also add non license plate recognition cameras to these systems. CCTV Camera Pros can design a complete license plate capture system / video surveillance system with additional cameras such as overview cameras. For over 12 years, we have designed custom LPR systems for hundreds of customers around the world including commercial properties, gated entry applications, parking lots, home owners associations, and government facilities.

In addition to the mini desktop case, CCTV Camera Pros also custom builds NVRs using full size desktop towers and rack mount server cases. We can provide a free phone consultation and quote. Need a complete system design that includes LPR cameras, IP cameras, network switches, cable, wireless systems? We can combine all of those into one pre-configured system.

license plate camera system

Above is an installation that consists of a license plater recognition camera and a surveillance overview camera. The LPR camera is mounted low and narrowly focuses in on the area were license plates pass. The overview camera is mounted much higher with a wider angle lens to capture a surveillance overview. This particular system also uses a wireless camera system to transmit the video back to a centralized NVR.

ASManager ALPR / ANPR Software

The GeoVision NVRs that we build for license plate reader applications include GeoVision ASManager software pre-installed. ASManager is the software that enables the ALPR / ANPR application. ALPR stands for automatic license plate reader. ANPR stands for automatic number plate recognition. These two terms are used interchangeably and mean the same thing, which is the ability for a video surveillance system to automatically identify the letters and numbers on license plates.

ALPR / ANPR Software

When the ASManager is used with a valid GV-LPR software license, license plates can be automatically identified by the software and logged into a database. Users can search the license plate database for specific numbers and time frames when plates were recorded. That is what is seen in the above screenshot. You can learn more about the GeoVision GV-LPR software in this PDF file.

Geovision NVR Software

GV-NVR is the name for the GeoVision surveillance software that is installed on these NVRs. It is used in conjunction with the ASManager software. The GV-NVR is a complete video surveillance system package that can record and manage up to 32 cameras. For customers that need to record more than 32 cameras, we can build the GeoVision NVR with GV-VMS software to support up to 64 cameras on one recorder.

GV-NVR supports third-party IP cameras. ONVIF compatible IP cameras are supported. The live security camera view and recorded video playback layout can be easily adjusted with the "easy to use" drag-and-drop function.

GV-NVR comes with a variety of intelligent video analytic software features for to security monitoring and to reduce the need for manual supervision. The built-in Webcam Server allows users to remotely access the live view of their camera as well as recorded video using web browsers, mobile apps for iPhone and Android and the client Remote ViewLog application.

You can download the complete GeoVision GV-NVR software data sheet here. It lists all of the features of the software.

GeoVision License Plate Capture NVR

Geovision NVR

Here is a picture of our mini GeoVision LPR NVR with the front door of the case opened. You can see the four hot-swappable hard drive bays and the two front USB ports. Each of these hard drive ports supports up to a 10TB hard drive for a total of 40 terra-bytes of video surveillance storage if needed.

We custom build these PC based DVR / NVRs using the IP camera software that is included with GeoVision IP cameras. We call these PC builds our GeoVision mini NVRs because we use the smallest possible desktop case that will support all of the hard drive bays, processor, video card, and ram that is required for a commercial grade GeoVision build. Our customers love these mini NVRs!

LPR Cameras

LPR cameras

The GV-ALPR NVRs that we build work great with all GeoVision LPR cameras. Please note that none are included with the recorder. Also, please note that for each LPR camera, you must also add a GV-LPR software license. Each GV-LPR license is good for 1 camera / 1 lane. There are two exceptions. The GV-LPR1200 and the GV-DSP-LPR both include a GV-LPR software license that is built into their hardware. The GV-LPR1200 is 1 megapixel LPR camera. The GV-DSP-LPR is a video server used with an analog LPR camera.

Wireless Security Camera System

CCTV Camera Pros uses these GeoVision NVRs in the design of indoor and outdoor security camera systems. Here is an example of how our GV-NVR mini PC can be used with a wireless IP camera system that connects two separate buildings. For license plate capture applications, it is very common to transmit video from and LPR camera positioned at a gate back to a main building that houses the DVR / NVR.

Outdoor Wireless IP Camera System

This is how it works.

  1. The building on the right houses the GeoVision recorder. It is connected to a POE-SW54 network switch.
  2. There is also a GeoVision IP camera in the building where the NVR is located. It ids also hard wired to the POE switch.
  3. The network uplink port is connected to the receiving antenna of the WIFI-EH9500 outdoor wireless IP camera system using CAT-5 cable.
  4. The building on the left has 2 GeoVision IP cameras installed. Both are hard wired to a POE-SW54 network switch. Please note that the security cameras at both buildings may be installed indoors or outdoors. There can be one or more than one IP camera installed at each location.
  5. The network uplink port is connected to the transmitting antenna of the WIFI-EH9500 system.
  6. This creates a wireless bridge between the two buildings so that the security cameras from both buildings can record to the same NVR.
