AC to DC Power Converters

AC to DC power converters are sometimes used in CCTV applications when the installer needs to run power to a DC powered camera at a distance that is too long for DC power to run. Generally AC power can travel a longer distance without voltage drop, so security installers can use an 24VAC power source, then at the camera end of the cable run use an AC to DC power converter before connecting the power to the surveillance camera or other device that requires DC power. Although CCTV Camera Pros sells these power converters mainly for video surveillance systems, these are generic converters that can be used with any type of electronic device.
