How do you install a 4mp security cameras?
The 4mp cameras on this page are all HD-over-Coax cable type. They use coax cable with BNC video connectors to transmit video, just like traditional CCTV cameras do.
RG59 Siamese cable is the most popular type of cable to use for installation. You can find a detailed RG59 cable installation guide for security cameras here.
How clear is a 4mp high definition camera?

What body styles are available?
5mp security cameras are available in all of the standard body styles such as dome and bullet.
Are 4mp cameras available with IR night vision?
Yes, there are IR night vision cameras available in 4mp resolution. Please check the specification for the model you are interested in for the effective IR distance.
Are they outdoor rated?
Some 4mp cameras are outdoor / weatherproof rated. Please check the bullet points or specification for the model that you are interested in or ask a CCTV Camera Pros tech.
Is a lipstick camera the same thing as a bullet camera?
Yes. Lipstick and bullet refer to the body style of the camera and both of these terms describe security cameras with a cylinder shape. Most of the time when security installers use the term "lipstick camera", they are referring to smaller / thinner model bullet cameras.
Are 4mp dome cameras available?
Yes. 4mp security cameras are also available in dome style housings. Indoor and outdoor weatherproof domes are available and most have IR night vision too.
Can I view my security cameras remotely?
Yes. When any of our BNC security cameras are installed with one of our
iDVR-PRO surveillance DVRs, you can remotely view your cameras from iPhone, Android, Windows, and Mac computers. Do they support motion detection?
Yes. When connected to a compatible surveillance DVR, 5mp security cameras support motion detection. The
motion detection can be used to trigger video recording, email alerts, and mobile push notifications on iDVR-PRO CCTV DVRs.
What is the field of view?
Each camera's field of view varies depending on the size of the lens and size of the image sensor. CCTV Camera Pros documents this for each of the cameras that we supply by providing sample images and video demos.
What brand DVRs are compatible with 4mp cameras?
Our 4mp cameras can run in the following video modes: AHD, HD-TVI, HD-CVI, and analog CCTV (CVBS). This makes them compatible with older analog CCTV DVRs and more modern 4 megapixel DVRs from all major manufacturers including Swann, Samsung, Night Owl, Lorex, QSee, Defender, Digital Watch Dog, CCTV Camera Pros, and just about all others. Please note that your DVR MUST SUPPORT 4MP RESOLUTION to work with these cameras when they are in 4MP mode (AHD, HD-TVI, HD-CVI).
