This video demonstrates the variable range of view and zoom of a 2.8-12mm varifocal lens using the PRO-680DN28 box security camera from CCTV Camera Pros.
On the left screen we have the lens adjusted to the 2.8mm setting which is the widest view. And the video on the right displays the lens adjusted to the 12mm setting which is the most narrow and zoomed in setting that the lens supports. The garbage dumpster in the background is exactly 100 feet away from the camera. In the 2.8mm video, the man stops 8 feet in front of the camera. In the 12mm video, the man stops 16 feet in front of the camera.
By using camera with a 2.8-12mm varifocal lens, security installers have the flexibility to adjust the lens to any angle of view within thie range. This video shows the extreme minimum and maximum of the range for this size lens.
