Description

The POE-AF1B is a single port 12V PoE power / data splitter that is compatible with IEEE 802.3af Ethernet standards. This PoE splitter is used in conjunction with a POE-12V48 PoE injector or a power over Ethernet switch. PoE injector / splitter systems are used with non-PoE devices which require 12V DC input.

Product Discontinued

We are very sorry that this product has been discotinued.

For example, IP cameras such as the Zavio F3000, require 12V DC power input and do not support native power over Ethernet. A power source is not always readily available where the camera will be mounted, so using an individual DC supply is not always convenient. The ability to run a single CAT-5 cable with power over Ethernet is very convenient in these cases. The PoE-AF1B gives the installer the option to do this with non PoE devices by allowing the data and the power to be split at the location of the camera. Please see the below PoE injector splitter network diagram which illustrates how this works.

Compatible PoE Injectors & Switches

The POE-AF1B works with any of these 12V PoE injectors and PoE switches.

POE-AF1B Features:

  • Ethernet Data Transfer (10/100Mbps)
  • Works with IEEE 802.3af PoE devices
  • 15.4 watts max output when used with IEEE 802.3af Ethernet source
  • 12V DC output
  • Supports Cat-5e up to 100 meters
  • Dimensions: 94 mm x 73 mm x 24 mm (L x W x H)

PoE Splitter Connected to non-PoE IP Camera

This is a PoE splitter connected to a non-PoE IP camera. The Ethernet data port is connected to the Ethernet port of the IP camera. The 12V DC power output on the back of the splitter is connected to the power input of the IP camera. The PoE port on the AF1B (the one that is not connected) could be connected to any IEEE 802.3AF compliant PoE switch, or midspan / PoE injector.

PoE Switch to Splitter

You can also use this PoE splitter with a PoE switch. Because the POE-AF1B is compliant with IEEE 802.3AF standards, it can be used to split the data and power from any PoE switch that complies to these standards. The above wiring diagram shows how to set up the POE-AF1B splitter with a POE-SW54 PoE switch.
