The HD-AD40 is a weatherproof and vandal-proof dome HD security camera that uses HD-SDI technology, which is capable of full high definition 1080p resolution. The HD-AD40 is enclosed in an IP68 weatherproof rated dome enclosure so that it can be used for indoor our outdoor video surveillance. The tri-axis mount enable this camera to be mounted to a ceiling or wall. This HD surveillance camera supports night vision surveillance in low light and zero light environments with the use of the 40 built in infrared LEDs. This camera automatically switches to night mode when light levels are low. When this happen, the camera switched from color to black and white and the built-in IR LEDs turn on.
The 1/3 inch Sony CMOS image sensor and progressive scan system enable this camera to capture high definition surveillance video at 1080p and 720p resolutions. The capture resolution is adjustable by the setting of your DVR. This camera has a 2.8-12 mm varifocal lens which gives the installer the flexibility to adjust the field of view to just the right angle for your application. The focal range that the lens provides is 128.6°- 37.8° (128.6° degree field of view at the 2.8mm setting and 37.8° at the 12mm setting.
The on screen display (OSD) built into the is accessed via a small joystick that can be accessed behind the clear dome housing. Using the OSD, installers can adjust settings such as the WDR (wide dynamic range), digital noise reduction, sens-up, smart IR, and day / night settings of the camera.
HD-SDI CCTV cameras can use RG59 Siamese coax cable just like traditional CCTV cameras, but must be used in conjunction with an
HD-SDI surveillance DVR to record video.
This camera is an excellent choice for indoor or outdoor video surveillance applications where high definition video is desired and light levels get very low or zero light recording is required. Because this camera is enclosed in a vandal proof dome enclosure, this camera can also be used in areas of high risk to tampering and vandalism.
Important Note: this camera requires an HD-SDI compatible DVR if you want to record.

Full 1080p Surveillance Snapshot
The above snapshot was taken with an HD-AD40 in a room that is 13 feet wide by 22 feet long. The varifical lens on the HD-AD40 was set to 2.8mm (the widest setting on the 2.8-12mm lens). The camera is mounted 7.5 feet from ground level. Marilyn Monroe is standing 8 feet away from the camera. Mike Myers is standing 21 feet away from the camera.
